Ms. Coach - Resource Room

Hello My Name Is...

Ms. Coach

Dear Families,

During the school closure, I can be reached by email at l.coach@schoolsofwestfield.org.  I will be checking my email daily so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns that I might be able to help with.  The district has posted enrichment activities for students to complete so be sure to check those out. Some additional suggestions include:

First grade:

  •   Practice writing your letters (uppercase and lowercase) and numbers

  •  Practice your sight words (Dolch sight word lists for pre-primer, primer, 1st grade can be found online)

  •   Practice your math facts (addition and subtraction within 12)

  •   Practice counting to 100 from numbers other than 1

  •    Practice skip counting by tens to 120 and fives to 100

  • Read daily with a family member (this can include echo reading: they read/you read, choral reading: reading together, or partner read: take turns every other sentence, paragraph, page, etc.)

  • Draw a picture and write or dictate and copy a sentence or two about your picture

  •  Play games with your family that involve math or reading

Second grade:

  •   Practice your sight words (Dolch sight word lists primer, 1st , and 2nd grade can be found online)

  •  Practice your addition/subtraction facts

  • Practice skip counting by twos, fives, tens (challenge yourself and try threes or fours)

  • Read daily with a family member (this can include echo reading: they read/you read, choral reading: reading together, or partner read: take turns every other sentence, paragraph, page, etc.)

  • Keep a daily journal and write a few sentences about what you are doing each day while at home

  •  Play games with your family that involve math or reading

 Third/Fourth grade:

  •  Read every day!  Most of you have Bookshare accounts.  Please reach out if you need help with usernames/passwords or books added.

  • Practice your addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts (for an added challenge, ask someone to time you and see how many you can get correct in a minute, try to beat your score each day)

  • Keep a journal and write daily about the things you are doing while home

  • Play games with your family that involve math or reading
