Dear First Grade Families,

****Attention Parents****
In an attempt to improve communication between the classroom teacher and your home, please send an email to your child's teacher that can be used to send you important information.  Please use the teacher's school email address as listed below.

 

As a first grade team, we are available for any questions you may have.  We can be reached at our school emails which are listed above.

Here are some additional things you can be doing at home.

 

Reading:

-read every day: fiction, non-fiction, fairy tales, poetry

-ask questions about the text

-go back into the text to find evidence

-practice sight words sent home

-read to your child

-tell stories using first, then, next, last

-do rhyming activities

 

Writing:

-make sentences to be corrected; capitalization and punctuation

-keep a journal

-go for nature walks and write about exploration

-write letters to friends and family

 

Math:

-practice addition and subtraction facts

-reinforce skills taught this year

-practice coin names and values of coins

-practice telling time to the hour and half hour

-collect and sort things: rocks, acorns, etc

 

Physical Activity:

-outdoor fun

-sidewalk chalk

-keep moving

 

It is important that your child be on STmath and i-Ready daily.  These are self paced programs in math and reading. If you are having difficulty getting your child on Clever, please let us know.  There are also sites you may visit on the Munger Hill website under the Symbaloo tabs.   There are a lot of resources out there to keep your child busy and learning.  Stay healthy!
