Hello My Name Is...
Welcome to Room 204
Welcome to the start of another school year! I am very excited to be teaching your child this year. This is my nineteenth year as a special educator. While I am new to the Essential Life Skills Program, I am not new to Munger HIll. Previously, I taught in the Resource Room and the Language Based Learning Disabilities Program.
I strongly believe in the value of Parent/Teacher Communication and to that end I can be reached in a variety of ways. First, I will be sending home a daily home school binder (red) to share how your child's day went, as well as homework notices and student work. Jotting me a note in the binder is probably the easiest way to reach me. I can also be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The third way is by school phone (413) 572-6520. Please leave a message and I will contact you as soon as possible.
This year I am requesting a short list of supplies. I do keep extras in school so if your child is unable to get these items, they will be provided to them. These items include (4) 2-pocket folders (red, blue, yellow, green), glue sticks, pencils, fine tip dry erase markers and (4) 1-subject spiral notebooks. Tissues are always appreciated, as cold and flu season will be here before you know it.
I will also be sending home Scholastic book orders as the year gets under way. This is strictly voluntary if you would like to partake. I will try to provide a variety of levels to satisfy everyone's interest. Please note that checks will need to be made out to Scholastic Book Club. I will not be able to accept cash.
Every day we will be having a working snack at about 11:00 a.m. I ask that you do not send anything in that contains tree nuts or eggs as we are an allergy aware classroom. I will not be providing snacks in the classroom, so please be sure one comes in from home if your child would like a snack.
Finally, I will begin assigning homework the week of September 12th. This will appear on the weekly homework agenda also in their binder. Please initial each night to indicate that you have seen it.
In conclusion, I am looking forward to a great year. Fifth grade is full of meaningful activities and transitions. Let's get started!
