Welcome to Fifth Grade!

It is a pleasure to teach at Munger Hill School. My role here is to get to know each of my students, determine which learning style works best for each child, and then, provide a wonderful fifth grade year. My job is also to challenge my students. I have asked my class to work very hard, but in return I will make this year as fun, interesting, and exciting as possible. I have promised my students that by the end of the year, not only will they have learned a lot, but they will be prepared for both the MCAS tests and the middle school, too.

I consider myself to be in a partnership with the parents of my students with a united goal of making this year as beneficial as possible for every child. I have found, and statistics have shown, that children with parents who are actively engaged in their child’s education, score better on tests and are more successful in school. I will do my best to keep the parents informed on all that we do. In return, I ask parents to ask their children purposeful questions about their learning each night using questions that begin with, “Please explain…”, “Tell me more about…”, or “What’s your opinion on…”.

I will warn you now, this year will fly by and these fifth graders will be leaving for the middle school before you know it! Stay involved so your children will know that we are working together to help them have a great year.
